Highlight Fly fishing Rio Pico:

Fly Fishing Rio Pico: This region is considered one of the most exciting and challenging trout and salmon fishing opportunities found in Patagonia. This is a tailored area for trophy fish. Anglers can hook rainbow trouts as big as steelheads, or browns in the 10 pounds range, and brooks as big as Labradors (or more). Aside from the two summer months, it will be hard to find other anglers during your fishing trip. It is a fisherman´s paradise: lonely silent rivers, transparent lakes and the privilege of fishing in private areas (Private Estancias) enjoying peace and exclusivity. There will be one professional fishing guide every two fishermen.  The guides are officially authorized by the Chubut Province.

About the Salmons to fish at Rio Pico
The Pacific Salmon is from the North Pacific, covering a wide distribution area extending to both oceanic shores. After intensive fish breeding activity in Chile, and various attempts of developing commercial fishing through Sea Ranching techniques, in the middle 80´s the Pacific Salmon started to be seen in the Argentinian basins that pour into the Pacific Ocean (Pico River, Corcovado River, Futaleufú River). Salmons of different species such as: Chinook Oncorhynchus Tshawytscha and Coho Oncorhynchus Kisutch. The Pacific Salmons have specific characteristics: they die after spawning to become organic material which the ecosystem is not able to incorporate and the males show an aggressive behavior during the mating season, with predominance encounters before migrating into the sea.
However, their high growth rate makes them attractive when aiming at obtaining a trophy. Salmons weighing over 20Kg were captured last year in the Pico and Corcovado rivers. !
