We find a wide range of trout species in this Patagonian region: Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), Brown Trout (Salmo trutta), Brook Trout (Salvelinus fontinalis), and Landlocked Salmon (Salmo Salar Sebago), which were introduced at the beginning of last century and are found in a unique wild state nowadays. They all stand out for their beauty and fierceness..
The Meliquina River begins and flows from the southern most shore of the Meliquina Lake. The river is located only 30 miles from the lovely resort town of San Martín de los Andes, a unique village surrounded by mountains and streams with only 27,000 inhabitants. On the Shore of Meliquina River lies the lodge MEL RIVER, no more than 20 minutes from any river or lake in the area for fishing.

ITINERARY
Day 1
Meeting with your guide at Buenos Aires international Airport. Transfer to the domestic airport and flight to Chapelco or Bariloche Airport where our fly fishing guides will welcome you. Transfer to Mel River Lodge. The typical lodge has all the necessary comfort for the fisherman to rest after a day-long fishing: restaurant, dinning and sitting room with a fireplace and a view of the snow-capped peaks. 4 bedrooms with private bathrooms, a fireplace and hot water. (but no cellular coverage, no phone)
The Lodge is located on the north shore of the Meliquina River and we are no more than 20 minutes from any river or lake in the area for fishing.

when arriving, we will start fishing in the Meliquina River, in front of the lodge. Welcome dinner.
Day 2, 3
First days fishing Rio Meliquina and FILO HUA HUM.
Day 4
After breaking off camp, we continue our paddling towards El 39, a small beach where we set up our second night camp. Beach El 39 is a research area for Southern Right whales for which the ICB, a local whale conservation organization reporting to the Whale Conservation Institute & Ocean Alliance, is responsible. We pay a visit to the scientist that work there and to their field lab. A calm sunset will allow paddling in our kayaks to enjoy watching the sun go down. We feast on typical Patagonian lamb with the intimate mood of a small group and with the background sound of the whales in the gulf.

free day. Transfer to the international airport. End of services.
