Day 1
Reception at Salta or Jujuy airport and transfer to your hotel in Tilcara. We visit Pucará de Tilcara, the re-construction of a Pre-Hispanic city and fortress. In the evening, you get our equipment ready with the help of our guide and then enjoy a typical Argentinian barbecue.
Night at Tilcara, DBL base - D

Day 2
At noon, transfer until trekking departure. We start in ascent to Altarcito area where we can see Pre-Columbian crop terraces. The trail we walk on is thousands of years old and was used by the first inhabitants that bartered or gathered food in both ecological areas. In the afternoon we settle the camp in a stunning area.

Day 3
After a solid breakfast, we climb on a trail to campo Laguna at 4200m. The highest point of the expedition. Then, we descent to Yutos Pampa enjoying a terrific panoramic view and spotting guanacos, vicuñas and other animals of the area.

Day 4
We walk until Cumbre Grande. On this day we begin to see the transition from the semi-desert of Quebrada de Humahuaca to the subtropical jungle with its own flora and fauna. The trail goes right through incredible panoramic points; we pass by the first alder trees 2800 meters above sea level, a species that only grows in the heights. We will arrive by evening at Los Caurteles de Molulo, little indian settlement. We will mix with the inhabitant and learn their customs.

Day 5
Free morning.
We will start walking after noon across the mountains and set the camp on a mirador.

Day 6
In this section of the trip, the company of deer, hill turkeys and condors is not unusual. At noon we camp and walk around the town of San Lucas, one of the prettiest towns of Jujuy, that can be reached only by foot or horse.

Difference in height: up: 250 m, down 700 m.

Day 7
We begin our day by walking through waterfalls over 60 meters high and mountain caves. We make our way through the Jujuy jungle, home to America’s largest feline, the Yaguareté (Jaguar), and other species of felines and monkeys. We take a refreshing plunge in the clear waters of River San Lucas. At noon we arrive to Peña Alta, the end of the trek, where we take the bus to Ledesma for lunch. We begin our way back, going through Calilegua National Park up to Salta, where we go to the hotel to rest and restore our strengh after the adventure.

Day 8
Free day. Transfer to airport or bus station.
