ITINERARY
Zekeseven Adventure offers a 2-week outdoor Adventure Trip from Salta to Iguazú National Park with amazing adventures in these wild sanctuaries. You will start in the Salta Province with a 5-day 4WD riding and trekking adventure to discover "Quebrada de Humahuaca”, experiencing mountain biking on salt lakes and the thrill of a rafting day down the Juramento river canyon. Finally, you will fly to Iguazú National Park, where you will spend 5 unforgettable days...
Day 1: (1 N 4-star hotel)
Morning arrival at Buenos Aires. Transfer to your hotel. Option: City tour and Tango show
Day 2 (1N lodge - Full board)
Flight to Jujuy, arriving around midday. Reception at Jujuy airport before starting an amazing 7-day 4WD ride, mountain biking and trekking Adventure. The journey begins exploring the jungle (called "Yunga” in native Quechua tongue) in the mountains. This region boasts of one of the highest biodiversity rates in Argentina and offers the possibility of great birdwatching the great variety of species. You will visit "Potrero de Yala", a 4300 hectares reservation protected by the UNESCO. Apart from the extraordinary flora and fauna, there are also 5 lagoons situated very high up in the exuberant jungle. After a short trek, a pause to rest and enjoy a cup of regional tea to regain strength. The trip then continues across “Quebrada de Humahuaca” up to Tilcara were you will spend the night.
Day 3, 4, 5 (3N lodge - Full board)
The day begins mountain biking around Quebrada de Humahuaca, recently declared World Heritage by the UNESCO. The Quebrada is basically a valley with a most extraordinary landscape, home to a millenary culture and to lots of historic events during its fathomless existence. We then arrive to Purmamarca, a very beautiful little town, with its famous "Cerro de los 7 Colores" (The Hill of Seven Colors”) and its typical square plaza with native artcrafts on sale. There you just can't miss the traditional walk of the "Colorados". Then, we continue north visiting all the small towns that show us their way of living, cultivating fruits and vegetables and raising sheep. This people cultivate their land the same way it was done 100 and more years ago. Once in La Banda, we will discover an archaeological site before enjoying the warm welcome of a native tribe waiting for us with a traditional lamb barbecue and Andean potatoes. After lunch we visit Humahuaca town and walk along its lovely little roads, its church and main square. Heading North again, only 18 Km. from Humahuaca we visit the Zapagua archaeological site. Our guide will be glad to explain the drawings, rocks ingraved by the ancient inhabitants, and stories about this mysterious people. Out in open air right by the river we find sacred native sites. Here we relax and enjoy a cup of regional tea before returning to Tilcara in the afternoon.
The following day, after breakfast, we start towards Alta Pampa on the well known Route 40 up to “Laguna de Guayatayoc”, after trekking around rivers, we reach the lagoon to enjoy a picnic and admire the marvellous scenery and a peaceful flock of flamingos.
Then we continue mountain biking along the route up to the big Saline. There you will experience MTB on the salt lakes, with a perfect view of the snow capped "Chañi"(6200 meters above sea level). Finally, we return to Tilcara down the Lipan slope and bike through the clouds up to Purmamarca. We spend the night at Tilcara. The following next day we will enjoy a free morning with optional activities: horse riding, rappel, trekking and a visit of Tilcara. We will drive to Salta through the Corniche pass.
Day 6 (1N lodge - Full board)
Rafting in Peñas Azules, a stunning area in the heart of Río Juramento Canyon near the Cabra Corral dam. We will go down the Juramento River rapids (12 km by route). Difficulty scale: III. The excursion also includes trekking around the area and the possibility of enjoying a delicious “asado” (traditional Arg. barbecue).
. Day 7 (1 N De La Fonte Boutique) (B)
Early morning, flight to Iguazú (Stop at Buenos Aires), in the province of Misiones. Our staff will pick you up at the airport and drive you to the De La Fonte boutique Hotel, perfectly located outside of Puerto Iguazu center. Free afternoon. The semicircular Iguazú waterfall is some 80 mts high and 2,700 mts D and is situated on a basaltic line spanning the border between Argentina and Brazil. Formed by many cascades producing vast sprays of water, it is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. The surrounding subtropical rainforest has over 2,000 species of vascular plants and homes tapirs, giant anteaters, howler monkeys, ocelots, jaguars and caymans.
Day 8 (1 N De La Fonte Boutique) (B)
After breakfast, a full day enjoying the waterfalls. Experience the excursion "Great Adventure'': The great adventure is to let the Iguazú waterfalls get under your skin, bewitching your very soul. This ride is a perfect mingle of water and jungle, it starts taking you deep into the Garganta del Diablo canyon (The Devil´s Throat Canyon) in a motorboat steered by experts in the area, allowing you to experience the majestic falls. Then we sail 9 km down the Iguazú river, the way the Spanish Conquerors followed, to end up in Macuco Harbor. Now this is the very beginning of an unforgettable adventure: we will drive you 12 Km into the jungle, the “Selva Misionera” of the Iguazú National Park. 4WD vehicles are adequate for these jungle roads. After an unbelievable 1 hour tour, the great adventure ends at the Viejo Hotel (Old Hotel) parking lot, where the journey began.
Day 9 (1 N De La Fonte Boutique) (B)
Visit of the waterfalls of the Brazilean side.
Day 10 (1 N Yacutinga) (B, Lunch, Dinner)Free morning. At approximately 2 pm, you will catch the Transfer to Puesto de Tigre, to reach Yacutinga Lodge in the midst of the jungle. That will be a 45 Km ride through the park on 4WDs. Your guide will show you the different flora and fauna species. Then we will sail for about 45´ on the calm Iguazú Superior River, up to the Yacutinga post.
The premises of the lodge, built with local materials such as stone and large logs from fallen trees, harmonize perfectly with the natural environment. Only 4 hectares out of the 570-hectare area of the natural reserve have been used to set up the complex.
You will be astonished at the amazing plant strata climbing up to the tree tops and the profuse vines of different types and sizes, creating an entwined frame for uncountable epiphytes. The free space between the different vegetation layers homes colorful birds like toucans, black fronted piping guans, trogons and woodpeckers.
With wildlife at full glow, extravagant colors, shades and dimensions, immensely rich flora and fauna of species… the jungle is utterly impossible to describe. Accommodation at the lodge, reception, Dinner.
Day 11 (1 N Yacuntinga) (Full Board)
During the morning we will go on sailing on Riacho San Francisco: animal-lovers, get your cameras ready! A great opportunity to watch and photograph fauna. Duration: 3hs. Return to the lodge. Lunch.
You will have the whole afternoon free to enjoy all the activities the lodge offers (swimming-pool, sightseeing, tours around the forest…)
Return to the lodge. Dinner.
After dinner, a wonderful night excursion: “La Selva de Noche” (The Jungle at Night)
Day 12 (1 N 4-star Hotel) (B, Brunch)
During the morning, you can rest or enjoy the activities of Yacutinga Lodge. In the afternoon, transfer to the local airport and flight to Buenos Aires. Our staff will drive you to the hotel. Free evening.
Day 13 (B)
Transfer to airport. End of services.
