The adventure starts driving South along Route 40. First, we visit the Cuevas de las Manos. From the ranger's house there is a narrow path alongside the river that leads to the different shelters and caves. According to experts, the splendid cave paintings belong to three different periods, from 7300 B.C. to 1000 A.D. The designs belonging to the different periods are easy to recognize: techniques and colors differ. After a hearty lunchbox we drive towards the Perito Moreno National Park, one of the farthest places of Route 40 and less visited areas. The Park protects the Patagonian fauna and flora as well as a chain of lakes and rivers. The amount of guanacos (lama guanicoe) in the Park is remarkable. Lodge and dinner at Estancia La Oriental. Home-made meals are shared with the owners and other guests. Distance traveled: 390 Km (gravel road)
